Amazon Adventure in Yasuní – 8 Days

Your adventure begins in Coca with a morning pick-up from your hotel and a road transfer to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, a pristine lagoon renowned for its biodiversity. Here, you will take a guided canoe ride to spot monkeys, birds, and the famous black caimans. After a picnic lunch by the lagoon, you continue exploring its waterways, with the possibility of witnessing the glow of luminescent larvae at dusk. The day ends with a return to Coca and overnight at the Gran Hotel de Lago, El Coca.

After breakfast, you will transfer to Coca’s port and board a speedboat to navigate the Napo River for approximately five to six hours. During the journey, you will enjoy lunch before arriving at Nuevo Rocafuerte, where you will visit the town and settle into your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay complete the day.

Following breakfast, the adventure continues with a two-hour boat ride into Yasuní National Park. At a Ministry of Environment checkpoint, a guided walk introduces you to giant trees and the forest’s unique ecosystem. You then continue to the Jatuncocha Lagoon for lunch. In the afternoon, a hike reveals medicinal plants, forest vines, and ancestral knowledge of the jungle before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.

After breakfast, you will navigate towards the Tambococha area, where a walk of two to three hours allows you to discover millenary trees, water vines, and other Amazonian wonders. After lunch, you will try your hand at piranha fishing before enjoying a spectacular sunset on the river. Once night falls, you embark on a guided walk to encounter frogs, insects, snakes, and other nocturnal wildlife, then return to the lodge for dinner.

The day begins with a visit to the Paikinape Indigenous Community (Secoya). Here, you will take part in preparing traditional food, followed by a communal lunch. In the afternoon, you will navigate along the Napo River to observe bird species on the river islands, before returning to Nuevo Rocafuerte around mid-afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will travel along the Napo River for approximately two hours, then continue to Cocaya, where you will have the extraordinary experience of observing and feeding pink river dolphins. Lunch will be served in Cocaya before the journey continues to Pantoja, a town on the Peruvian border. Later, you will return to Nuevo Rocafuerte for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, it is time to return. You will transfer to Nuevo Rocafuerte’s port and take a speedboat back to Coca. Upon arrival, you will check in at the Gran Hotel de Lago, El Coca for your final night in the Amazon.

On the last day, after breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Coca’s airport for your outbound flight, bringing your Amazon adventure to a close.
